Hi All

I'm just about to start U216 - Environment with the OU, this month. Really excited about it, hopefully it's the first step towards a diploma which will help me make a sideways career change.

Aaanyway, I know a few people on here have done this course before, of something similar so I just wanted to ask... how and when do you find out how to access the forum? I know it's through FirstClass but I haven't a clue where I might find it. I'm guessing it should sit under social sciences but I could be wrong. The course starts at the end of the month.

Anybody have any advice? Thank you

I've studied with the OU on and off for about 15 years and have about 10 courses under my belt, a lot of them short courses but also a Certificate in Health and Social Welfare, and an Arts Foundation course and a couple of longer courses at level 2.

But this year I am going in all guns blazing and have signed up for a level 1 Law course with the intention of eventually studying for a full Law degree. At the age of 51 I am finally determined to achieve something academically before I am too old to do anything with it. If I do manage to do the full degree it will probably take 6 years (most of the courses are really expensive so I will only be able to afford 1 a year).

I am also back into my writing and have written the first 60 pages of a novel. This will be my third novel, but so far I haven't had anything but a couple of short stories published.

Just wondering when I will find time to do any cardmaking as well, especially as I have orders waiting. Think I am going to be a really busy girl this year.

Good job I take an eco-friendly approach to housework (the less you do the less harmful products you use!!!)

Still keeping up with the law course, and not doing too badly with my assignments. Unfortunately its unlikely I'll be able to afford the £2000 a year to do the higher law courses so might go the Social Sciences route instead. Still writing too, amazingly and the book is really starting to flesh out. I'm really pleased with myself that I'm actually sticking to something for a change. Howz everyone else doing?

What sort of novel, Helen? That's really exciting - I really admire people who have the imagination for that. And thumbs up that the course is going well x
