It will be an autumn wedding (october this year), so all ideas from music to clothing to entertainment will help get the creative juices flowing! Hopefully! Thanks all xx

Big congratulations on your impending nuptuals bettywobble October is a lovely time to get married, the autumn colours look fabulous in the photos (i got married on 2nd nov).
A good idea is to make as much of your stuff as possible (invites, cake, favours, customise a 2nd hand dress or make your own, flowers - hand picked/tied seasonal flowers from the garden are beautiful).
Knitty is planning her own celebration at the moment and has some wonderful ideas , the thread is in Another perspective under Our Handfasting.
Wish you lots of fun and enjoyment in the preparations for your big day

If you are making your own wedding stationery I may be able to help. I have some basic stationery which you would be very welcome to re-cycle. Give me a shout! I also have various templates I could e-mail over.

how cheap and eco do you want to go?
the cheapest and greenest way is to turn up at registrars/church in own clothes and borrow witnesses off the street

we married in own own clothes - jeans and a blouse/shirt, kids wore jeans/tops too
our thinking was not so much to be green but that we were getting married cos we loved each other not to have a huge wedding and mega party
we celebrated at home with close family

Thanks for all the ideas, will have a look for that thread. Mrs Nesbitt...have pm'd you lol .
Turning up on the day and "borrowing" witnesses off the street was exactly what I did for my first wedding lol. We were thinking of service (registry office-2 sets of parents and 5 year old son), then home to our back garden to have some food for probably about 40ish people at the very most, including kids. I was just looking for ideas to maybe make it a bit more special, but I love the ideas of using our own flowers from the garden, and food will be mostly our own meat and produce from the garden. Just maybe struggling with the ideas we both have for ourselves, and trying to keep family members happy, although the more I think about it, the day is OUR day, and we should have it as we want. We just need to work on small compromises I think lol. But thanks all for the ideas xx

We produced our own stationery using high quality papers, sewing them together with gold thread. We did the big church wedding thing. My wife's dress was home made and looked stunning and my mother in law - bless her - was a member of the local flower arranging society, so the flowers were recycled from a local flower show and then went on to be used in various churches and old people's homes immediately after the wedding.

October usually is associated with the coming of Autumn, so you could make use of the lovely autumn leaves and stuff available.
basic candles lined with different leaves tied with twine and inserted with a rosehip or similar
Gourds- scoup out, add a candle and float in a large low bowl of water with leaves inside
Pumpkins....make into lanterns & hang round the garden
Invitations...leaf themed
Favours? Miniature jam jars filled with autumn chutney .....
Ooooooooooooooooh am all excited! lol!
