There's a lot of hot air being wasted on the pros and cons of wind energy and precious little attention paid to TIDAL energy
Local case in point, a few years ago a new bridge was built to replace the old one at Montrose.
Montrose Basin LNR is some 1024 ha in extent, emptying through the harbour, there is/was sufficient vacant land at both ends to install tidal turbines to harvest a goodly portion of the power on both the incoming and outgoing tides without affecting the wildlife therein.(it's a Ramsar Site among other things)
Did it happen? NO!
Why not? BLOODY POLITICS!!
The mooted Severn Barrage is set to cost billions!!
How stupid, when there are stand-alone/modular systems under test at EMEC right now!!
Rant over!
Mike.
