Like Trees

Lives are like trees
Tangled with large and small,
Intricately rooted in ways we can't see.
Me -- I am a bit like my Rowan tree.
Here, they call it Mountain Ash
But mine's true English Rowan.
Stressed, it sends up suckers.
Each rooted sapling is the same tree.
So am I.
There is not single trunk
To describe my life.
My heart belongs to communities,
To people,
Who know only who I am with them.
It's ok.
We all live in the same green world.
I am still myself
No matter what well
I drink from,
No matter whose hands reach out.
We are like trees;
But not all trees are the same.
