The co-op are green and very ethical but just merged with Britannia.
Britannia building society now have ethical things written on their front page but no ethical children's savings accounts as such, so I guess that the Co-op's ethical policy is somewhat diluted.
I'm cheesed off about it - I've a smile account which is run by the co-op because of the co-op's ethical cred. I'm now looking for an alternative account, unless Britannia take on a much stronger ethical stance.
If you google ethical child trust funds you get several nice sounding ones in the pink bits at the top, I particularly like the foresters family fund myself but since the X is in control of that aspect of our children's future, I had to let them go to Barclays.

The co-operative group do try hard to be ethical and do take these actions beyond where they invest, such as their main building http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/nov2004/2004-11-09-01.asp while they have been diluted slightly by the merger I can imagine that the ethical stance will be spread throughout the whole business eventually as it has been so succesful in the cooperative group.
I think they said as much during the merger. nothing will be 'less ethical' in the cooperative element.
Maybe a co-operative group member of staff could comment in this blog on a seperate post?

Healthy Investment provide the Ethical Child Trust
Fund
It is Ethical because it does not knowingly invest in Alcohol, Tobacco or Arms companies.
It is however a very small society compared to the likes of the Co-operative Society if financial strength is an issue.
Some Child Trust funds offer deposit account type saving plans, others offer investment types of savings plans, this fund above, offers an investment type in this fund.
Most of these plans should be available online.
Many of the friendly societies may offer these plans, many of the friendly societies have a 'method' of working rather than label things ethical, it may be worth looking at a few of these too, such as LV, Wesleyan and so on.
I can see why you are having a tough time finding these, none appear to be listed in the same area!
Some more are:
The Children's Mutual
Family Investments
Methodist Chapel Aid Ltd
(None of the above are recommendations or advice, advice should be sought from a local registered adviser.)
