This is an event my hubby's cousin is organising:

Quote:
Sustainable Fashion comes to Harbourside, Bristol.

The Living Room restaurant and bar will host Sustainable Fashion 2009 when some of the countries most talented eco-conscious designers, retailers and fashion/textile design students from UWE Faculty of Creative Arts will show their work at this innovative and original show.

Date: Sunday, October 11

Time: 6.00pm

Venue: The Living Room, Explore Lane, BS1 5TY

This show is all about the glamorous, affordable and alternative choices to high street clothing and accessories. Sustainability in fashion is about changing the way people think about clothing - about the longevity of the fashion we buy - about awareness that the industry itself perpetuates all sorts of environmental issues.

Nicola Woods’s creations from Beautiful Soul will be on show; Nicola’s recycled Kimono collection was recently showcased at London Fashion Week.

Nicola said.

” I believe that fashion is an influential tool which, used wisely and respectfully, will allow my company ‘Beautiful Soul’ to expand awareness in favour of our planet. In addition, my label offers employment opportunities from a compassionate viewpoint; providing training and motivation within less privileged communities around the UK and the World.”

Four Lucky students from UWE faculty of Creative Arts will get the opportunity to showcase their work at The Living Room show. A competition to choose the winners will take place at the Bower Ashton campus on October 9.th.

The Living Room and Bud UK Ltd are the team behind this unique show. Alice Crocker of Star FM will compere the show and the two local charities to benefit from a fundraising raffle on the day are, Penny Brohn Cancer Care and Sustrans Bristol. Models will be joined on stage by well known Bristol break-dancers 'Physical Jerks' who have donated their time free as part of their ongoing commitment to charity and community.

All the suppliers and designers are committed to sustainability. We are even using biodegradable carpet to cover the catwalk, low energy lighting from the equipment suppliers and all posters and flyers are printed with vegetable-based inks on re-cycled paper.

Ticket costs are £10 (standing) including a glass of Prosecco and £20 seated near the catwalk including a glass of Prosecco. The £20 tickets also include a goodie bag to take away.

Advance tickets are bookable through Emma or Judah at The Living Room 01179253993 or email
